Spotting? Implantation? What the heck. :(

I have a question. I just started the mini pill about 6 weeks ago.

I got my period on May 13th. It stopped on May 17th, end of day. On May 22nd, I had sex with my fiance and forgot to take my pill that day. Two days later I had pink and red spotting. The next day it turned into a heavy, (gross) slimy brown discharge.

Normally I would think this was breakthrough bleeding and I wouldn't worry. But because of having sex and forgetting my pill... I'm wondering if I could be pregnant?

The only way my spotting could have been implantation bleeding would be if I ovulated within like a day of my period ending. That just seems crazy to me. I know if you take pills late it can cause breakthrough. I'm hoping that is the more logical option here.

I hope someone can look at this timeline objectively and tell me I'm being paranoid. Thanks!

My guess is if you take your pills on time every month routine, then you probably have nothing to worry about - if you were switching pills and you missed one within the first 7 days, you could be pregnant.

Often though, bc pills warn that it is more likely for a woman to become pregnant if they miss their pills on the first day they're supposed to take them or do not take the pack through (so if they start their pills late or finish early). Usually if you're stuck on this routine and you missed one pill, they say you do not have to use backup methods unless you skip two.

As always, you can take a test to be sure.
