Recently I got pregnant while I was on birth control. I had missed a couple days and took it at erratic times sometimes - basically very careless with it, I guess I was on a Superman high from being on birth control for about 5 years now without a hitch. Anyway, when I was supposed to get my period I started, but it ended within the day, and didn't come back until 3 days later, when I basically spotted again - I've had this happen before, so I attributed it to stress. At this time I began feeling nausea (the most horrible feeling ever), and figured this can't just be stress related, so I decided to take a pregnancy test. Lo and behold, it was positive.

I had a medical abortion on the 14th of June, and I followed all the post-abortion procedures carefully (I took my medicine, I didn't have sex for two weeks, no lifting or exercise, I wore pads, etc.) and my follow up appointment went well. I started my birth control pack 3 days after my procedure.

My boyfriend came to visit me for this past 4th of July weekend (now 3 weeks after the procedure), and we had unprotected sex all 4 days - but I was very careful to not miss a single day of my birth control as I had before as well as take it within the same general time period.

Monday was the last day of pills in my birth control pack, and like clockwork my period began yesterday, 3 days later like it always has for me. It seemed like a normal period, until I started feeling discomfort with the tampon later, and decided to change it, and found that again, I had started and stopped, and have not started again since then.

Right now I'm under a lot of stress with my job, and money, and at the end of the month I am moving to another state into a place with my boyfriend and I am starting grad school. I am not feeling any other symptoms, no breast tenderness, no nausea, and I called the clinic I had my procedure done to ask them if this was normal, but all they said was to take a pregnancy test. I guess I am going to, but after reading some of the posts on here I see that the pregnancy hormone can linger after an abortion, so I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and it was just a case of an irregular period after a procedure.

Any advice or suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!
