US scientists have managed for the first time to artificially turn human embryonic stem cells into cells that become internal organs. They actually captured a recreating biological trigger that turns stem cells into different tissues. Researchers have managed to manipulate embryonic stem cells into a primitive cell type called the definite endoderm.
This process is very important for developing organs like the pancreas, liver and lungs and may allow scientists to turn stem cells into replacement cells, so that they could be used in treatment of diabetes or liver failure.
