Steroids in children and health consequences?

My son has asthma and has to use inhaler. I know about corticosteroids and their anti inflammatory effect. They are used for several other conditions, not only asthma. I also know that they could develop some bad side effects, especially after the long-term use. I need to know more about steroids in children and health consequences.

Steroids do have unwanted effects, but the good thing is that he is taking his dosage via inhaler. Their effect it only for a local area. Side effects are more often developed when steroids are taken orally; they have a much larger effect on the entire system and its organs. They also could damage growth of bodys cells. So, I guess you must not worry much.
