I've read all these posts and I'm having some of the same problems that many of you have. About 3 or 4 years ago I started getting vary vicious stabbing stomach pains after I ate. Usually it was when my friends and I would eat later in the night, so I attributed it to that, and tried to cut it out of my lifestyle. They subsided for a while and didn't bother me until about 2 years later, where one summer I would get terrible stomach pains and bloating right after eating. I would also feel a little gassy and plainly exhausted as well. I found it felt better when I was either hunched over (as close to fetal position as possible) or sitting down.

One time after lunch with my friends it was so bad that I had to sit down on in the middle of a crowded city street downtown. My friends were so embarrassed! Haha.

Anyway, I'm only looking this up now because it has been gone for a while, but now it's returned. Tonight I went out with my boyfriend for pasta, and right after eating I felt the tell-tale signs of the cramps/pains coming on. Hateful!

I don't know what is wrong! I thought it was maybe after eating greasy food, but sometimes it's not. I've always searched for a pattern because I kept thinking, like a few others, that I was maybe allergic to something I was coming into contact with, but...I've come up with nothing concrete.
The closest thing I've read on here is maybe having gall bladder problems, because the other suggestions about hernias and ulcers, seem to also be related to back pain, which never occurs in my case.

If anyone has any help or information to relay to me, that would be much appreciated. I should go to the doctor, but I'm living in the U.K. for a few more months until I return to Canada, so I'll try to get it checked out then. It's so hard to go to the doctor for something when it's not happening at the exact moment, but whenever I go through it I always get mad that I've not gotten it checked out yet! So irritating!

Anyways, thanks again for reading and any help.

Well everyone else is talking about how they had to cut out wheat, but I had been having those horrible stomach pains after eating also - my doctor first thought it was Pancreatitis but ruled that out. I noticed, on my own, that two things made me feel better: exercise and cutting out meat. I have no idea why, but for some reason, whenever I eat meat (or too much dairy) my stomach starts hurting again. And if I develop the pains and take a 30 minute walk they get better. It makes no sense to me and I have never heard of anything like it before - neither has my doctor, but avoiding meat seems to be working. Just a suggestion if you are looking for something to try!

Same thing here. Severe pains after eating. Sometimes they are so bad that I just want to scream. I've looked for patterns but there aren't any. The only thing I've ever been able to eat pain free, are smoothies. Sometimes I can get away without the pains, but other times I can't. It happens anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour after I eat and can last up to 4 hours. The ONLY thing I have gotten ANY relief from is by placing a very hot magic bag on my mid back. Even though the pain isn't in my back, it seems to help some. Or maybe it is just distracting.

I am in Canada and have had every test in the book ran. They have no clue. Doctors are useless unless it's something textbook like a broken arm. Sorry, but they are. The only diagnosis I got was given to me by a specialist who had the pamphlet reading and waiting before I even told him what was going on. I'm guessing this is his old standby. They all seem to have one. I read it and basically it sounded liked a diagnosis that basically means they have no idea what is going on and there is no fix.

I still think there is a reason for this. I've tried connecting it to stress as well, but was pain free during a very stressful time and visa versa. No patterns. If anybody can figure this out... there seems to be many of us out there that would love to know!!!

I've just had all these symptoms recently. Last night, I woke up in such pain in my stomach and back that I couldn't breathe. I laid on my bathroom floor nauseous and sweating for almost an hour. The only thing that got me back to sleep was 2 cold, wet wash cloths on my face and stomach. I thought it was because I drank a lot of coffee throughout the day yesterday, but today I only drank a smoothie for lunch and it started again and then I ate a sandwich for dinner and I can barely move from the pain. Yikes. I've been reading up on ulcers and I think that's what it may be.

I've been having the same problems ever since I was about 14 (4 years). I can't eat any meals without having really bad stomach pains and bloating. Its hard for me to even walk or do anything physical after eating. I've tried peptobismol pills and everything but I just doesn't help. I'm at the point where if I know I have to walk around or if I am going out somewhere I can't even eat that day because it will make me so sick. It basically controlls my life. I don't have any lower back pains though. Does this sound familure to anyone else?

PostPosted: 10/10/08 - 21:28    Post subject: Persistant Abdominal Pain Vote now! Reply with quote

I am a healthy 20 year old college student who has never had many abdominal problems before. This past year I have been having extreme abdominal discomfort that will sometimes last days or weeks. I have put it off as just regular gas, but it continues to persist. The pain does not occur only with certain foods because my meals do not change between the times when I do have pain to the times when I do not. I eat plenty of fiber through my diet and am not having difficulty with bowl movements. I do worry sometimes that I have too many bowl movements in a day. The pain usually will last a few hours to a few days. It is a sharp pain that also causes minor soarness in my back. I was wondering if this is just a bad case of gas or if I should consult my doctor. Any suggestions?
