Hi, my 11 year old boy has been diagnosed with Strattera 80 mg a day, to treat ADHD. Is it safe for him? How long should he take it?

Hi, a diagnosis of ADHD is seen in children with hyperactive-impulsive or inattentive symptoms. the child is being compared to average child of that age. It must cause clinically significant impairment, e.g., in social, or occupational functioning. Symptoms like: lack of attention to details, lack of sustained attention, poor listening to what they are said, failure to follow through on tasks. They don’t tend to develop organization skills. These children also avoid tasks requiring sustained mental effort. They get distracted easily and forget what they were about to do.

Hi I'm 15 and was taking 80mg strattera for attention deficit disorder. His doctor should have prescribed him to start around 20mg and work his way up to 80mg after at least 3 days or so or else it would not be good. His body needs to get used to the atomoxetine (strattera) at a low dosage before you take it up to 80. He should start at 0.5mg per kg and he can work his way up to 1.2mg per kg. He should take it for however long as your doctor directed and try not to skip a dosage and give him his pills every morning around the same time. If it's not to much for him it will be safe but you should be aware of any medical conditions he may have that will counteract with strattera.
