Last week, I took my grandchildren to a theme park; because it was rather cold, I totally forgot to wear any sunscreen and by evening, I had a pretty severe sunburn on my face and scalp, the only exposed skin. 6 days later, I noticed a spot starting on the left side of my forehead, which rather quickly turned to a oozing blister-like wound. The entire area, well into my scalp is EXTREMELY painful;  by day 3 of this, I started swelling, Hive-like, and I can barely see out of my left eye. The wound is still wet, but it's the area away from the wound that hurts most, like nerve-pain, intense, overwhelmingly so. I can't even sleep, because if I roll over to the left side, I wake up with stabbing pain that doesn't ease, easily. Someone told me I have sun poisoning, but everything I've read about that says the rash/wounding/blisters should have started sooner. What is this and what can I do to make it go away? I'm taking benedryl for it, and keeping it clean, but otherwise, trying to leave it alone. If it makes a difference, I'm a diabetic as well. |
