Sverely Itchy Hands And Feet(blood Pressure ?)

Hey all,
Ive been eating vast quantities of pistachio nuts recently, i love them can get enough of them.

for the last three months ive had this intense itching of the soles of my feet, and now and again the palms of my hands.

after a google on pistachio nuts and feet I found this article

I'm gonna stop eating these nuts and see if the symptoms go away.
Just thought i would share this with you in case you have eaten any nuts and didnt think anything of it at the time.

of every post I've read, yours seems closest to what I've been going through for years now. Every few days, whether it be winter or summer, hot or cold, doesn't seem to matter what I eat or if I'm stressed, I get tiny blister like bumps on my hands and feet. It will start out as a couple then spread, looking like I got a hundred spider bites on my hands and feet only. The more I scratch the more they itch and sting. Then anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour later they disappear only to come back the next day or so. Nothing i take or put on them seems to work. The doctor can't do anything because they of course are not acting up when I'm there for the doctor to see them. I feel yours and everyone elses pain and annoyance. Let me know if you find out anything. Thanks

I've had painfully itchy feet at night on and off for most of my adult life. Most noticable when I was pregnant (OB said it was a result of slight swelling in capillaries in foot) and when I was withdrawing from Paxil, but it still happens pretty frequently. It's much worse when my feet are hot -- in fact, if the temperature in the room goes much above 70 degrees F, my feet are so hot and itchy that my legs twitch in pain. However, during the day, my feet feel fine no matter the temperature. No redness, flaking, etc., and various blood tests over the years have all been normal.

What helps? Try any or all of the following:

--keep your feet poking out of the covers when you go to sleep
--turn on the cold water in the bathtub and let it splash over your feet for several minutes
--Bactine spray (or any other spray designed to relieve the pain of stings, burns, etc.)
--elevate and cool your feet in bed -- use a thick towel to cover several frozen cold packs (the kind you put in coolers to keep drinks cold) or gel-filled ice packs (find them in the first-aid aisle), put them on top of a pillow, and rest your feet on the towel
--any of those alcohol-based body sprays whose odor you find pleasing (not as effective as Bactine, but as the alcohol evaporates, your feet feel momentarily cooler, and it smells a bit nicer)
--distract yourself with the radio or tv -- I listen to the syndicated radio show "Coast to Coast AM" overnight -- if none of the above work, at least I'm listening to something interesting and not lying there miserable -- often I find myself drifting back to sleep while listening and having to go to the Web site the next day to find out what I missed!

What hasn't helped?
--antihistamines, either pills (Claritin, Benadryl) or creams
--antifungal creams
--lotions of any kind (dry skin, medicated, antihistamine)
--powders of any kind
--Ibuprofen, Acetominophine, other pain killers

Great article on itching in The New Yorker -- it's on their Web site -- those stories made me appreciate the mildness of my itchy feet!

why!!!!!!!!!, what is the problem?, is it something in the air?, i never had this problem before, i went to the dr. and no answers, i also have a freind who been iching for the last 10 years, no answers for her either, what is the purpose of this web-site? we all know we are iching now WWWHHHYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been itching since november. it started all of a sudden. hands and feet only and mostly at night. I went to the doctor and had every test known done and then went to the allergy and skin dr and no one knows what it is. the only thing that works is xyzol. thats it. i am now taking it every day and a half because thats when the itching comes back. last week I got bit by ants and thats the exact itching I have been experiencing. this is the most aggrevating thing I have ever experienced.

So after 2 years of experiencing this on and off (itchy hands and feet) I've also come to conclude that its salt and/or msg and sometimes tomatoes. However, I've noticed that if I put pressure on part of my forearm, or anywhere I get red and itchy and small bumps appear but go away quickly

For example if I have my forearm or hand resting on a hard sharp surface leave it there for a while (sitting on a dining room chair eg) I'll notice the redness and then its starts to itch! I'm a healthy 38 yr old but will soon visit the doctor to find out what this is.

I was so glad to find this forum. My symptoms are very similar to those described by the majority of posters here, with one exception: the skin on my hands and feet cracks, quite painful. It even bleeds. Where I scratch, little bumps form, almost like tiny blisters. The skin thickens, then stiffens, then peels and flakes away. This has been with me for almost one year. I have been to see half a dozen dermatologists, and have received diagnoses of psoriasis and pompholyx eczema. I have had other symptoms of psoriasis for years, on my fingernails and scalp. Since this started a year ago, I have felt like I have been going mad. Nothing I have tried has worked, though running very hot water or putting ice on my hands does stop the itching for awhile. I was prescribed fexofenadine and that does seem to control the itching so that I can sleep through the night, but I would do anything to solve this problem! I am now going to stop drinking alcohol and coffee completely, and like others who have posted here, I'm going to keep a food diary. I can't help but think, like others here, that this is some kind of allergy OR is somehow liver-related.

Does anyone know whether or not fexofenadine has any side effects?
