Today is day seven of my uphill battle with a swollen right tonsil that progressively gets larger. As it gets larger, the pain becomes more prominent and has also moved into my ear canal. I am a heavy smoker, that has gone without smoking for the last 2 days. I am also a heavy drinker. I noticed the swelling of the tonsil the day after a 48 hour party/binge.
I had snorted a crushed pill over those 48 hours, and I originally credited the swelling to the coarse pill powder and intense nasal drip. When the pain did not go away the following day or 2, I became concerned. It has got worse and worse. I went to the doctor today and he did a test for strep throat, the results being negative. He said it hasn't been long enough to test for mono, so he prescribed me Ammoxicillin (anti-biotic) and Darvacet for the pain. Today is day one and no relief with the darvacet, unless combined with advil
