Hi all. I’m 27. Just last night while I was putting my hair up in a ponytail I noticed a small bump on the hairline on the left side of the back of my neck. I think it might be a swollen gland. It is fairly soft, but is not painful or itchy. So, I’m wondering should I be concerned if or this is something that will go away on it’s own? Should I see my doc immediately or wait few days first??
Yes, you should wait few days (maybe even a week or two) to see what happens. It does sound like a reactive lymph node in the occipital area which is usually nothing serious. It is possible that you have a minor infection of some kind…. But, if it is not resolving in that time (say, 2 weeks), then you should visit your doc to check it out.
