| My girlfriend is getting off the methadone. It’s been 24 hours now and she is on the edge. She is abusive of me, irritable, sweating profusely and contradictory – one moment she says she is going to quit, the other she begs me not to take her seriously. Are these the symptoms of narcotic withdrawal? |

| Symptoms of methadone withdrawal appear 24-36 hours after because its effects last longer than those of heroin. Everything you described falls into that category of narcotic withdrawal, and more… craving for the drug, anxiety, yawning, runny nose, salivation, goose flesh, muscle aches, diarrhea, confusion, enlarged pupils, tremors, lack of appetite. It is not life threatening unless the person has some previous medical condition. |
