| Yes- the title is spelled wrong on purpose, in tribute of all the horrible spelling here. Percs are Schedule II, the "Doc" said earlier in his somewhat passionate speech. |

My significant other of 15 years has given up pot, doesn't drink anymore, but has been addicted to pain meds for the last 5 years or so. Anyway, after he exhibited some pretty nasty 'drug seeking behavior' (stole a check out of my checkbook, forged my signature) I booted him out and he moved to FL. And continued to take the pills (blasted percocets). Subsequently, in chasing after the pills, he's gotten speeding tickets, and had an accident (which wasn't his fault), and points cause a loss of license. I've observed his behavior for years, and see the percocets taking their toll. He gets the pills, sells part of them (against the law) to pay his bills, and suffers until his next appointment. The suffering is not just the pain, but the mental withdrawal.....depression......
This depression is horrible. I know that it's the percocet withdrawals, and have tried to tell him this and that each time he goes on/off the pills it (the depression) will be worse.
Due to lack of insurance, etc., I am trying to encourage him to go to his local health department and speak with the substance abuse unit....this I've been trying to get him to do for about 6 months to no avail.
Any ideas/suggestions? |

|
|
| Taper your self off your pain killers. If you take 10/325, then take half. Do that for a week or two, then ask your doctor for a lower dose, like the 5/500. And do the same with those. They will prescribe you these if you are using them to taper off of them. And to the person that is being rude to someone who spelt a word wrong, get a life. |

| I have been taking percocet 10/325's or percocet 10-650's for two years. I have been prescribed 4 a day or 120 a month. I broke 18 bones in my legs and ankle and had 6 fractures and damn near lost my foot. I strongly suspect on of my friends stole my prescription bottle while I was at the hospital awaiting the birth of my nephew. I called the police, filed a report, showed my doctor and he says he does not replace these drugs, I have to wait. I have never felt so awful in my life. My hips are aching, I never have taken sleeping pills before but maybe twice in my life and I took FOUR last night and still only got 3 hours of sleep. My nose will not stop running, I am weak, sick and feel rotten. And I am ANGRY! I will probably go to the emergency room if I can move. I plan on calling my Doctor again in the morning and telling him that if he is not going to write me a replacement to at leave give me something to help me with these withdrawals, because thats exactly what it is! |

Percocets are an incredibly addictive drug. You should take them as little as possible. If one does become addicted to the drug you should contact the percocetaddiction.net as soon as possible. As for the comments that have been written up above. They are unfortunate. And the gentleman that loaned the pills to his friend try and remember there is a reason that you canot just give your buddy these pills they are a narcotic and even giving them to someone is considered a crime. So be careful. |

| I'm 48 . Healthy until .....I had a Liposarcoma On my rt. Femur Removed Oct. 2006 . Got a streph infection had 4 operations and managed to keep my leg inspite of fevers , much pain and a "Wound VAc' . The wound ( originally 17 inces long ) has almost healed ( 3 inches ) after 2 years , however , I've taken Perc's throughout . I started with 2 tabs every 6 hours and am down to 3-4 a day and am concerned I'm addicted . After reading these postings I realize I am and can see the symptoms ( Insomnia , sweats , anxiety ect .. ) My doctor says he's cutting me off in 60 days . I'm a bit concerned . I feel I'll need much longer to "ween " off them . Should i get help or should I do this alone ? Any suggestions ? I appreciate any input ! "Openwound" ! |

| i am 35 and i have been taking percs for about 1 1/2 yrs for my siatic, i have decided yesterday was my last day! i was taking way to many and i was obviously addicted. you have to make a conscious decision to quit and just do it. i am doing it cold turkey because i have found that is what works for me, and it won't kill me. i'm hear to tell you that if i can do it, anyone can do it! i will deal with the pain in other ways! however, i don't think you should start taking something else to help stop taking percocet, but that is just my opinion. i think you will need a support system, definatley someone to talk to for the first week or so! best of luck to you! like i said, today is my day 1! |
