Taking Depakote after having a stroke! Why?

My mother had a stroke few days ago. She still in hospital but her doctor told me that we can expect that she will be ok soon. He prescribed to her medication called Depakote. I know that it’s used for epilepsy. Does anybody know why is good taking Depakote after having a stroke?

Well, you should know that some people may have seizures after having a stroke. They may begin right after stroke or after months or even years. They are a result of the stroke’s injury to the brain. Depakote is an antiseizure medicine and many doctors prescribe it for this kind of problems.
