Taking Tarceva with tea

My partner has lung cancer and is taking the drug Tarceva in tablet form once daily with a large glass of water. He cannot get on with ordinary water even when warmed up, makes him feel sick, but has found that a cup of tea is a lot easier.
He is worried that as only water is recommended to take tablet with , and that maybe a cup of tea could reduce the effects of the Tarceva?
Cant seem to get a positive answer from anyone as yet.
