Hi all. Is it safe to take amoxicillian while pregnant? I am concerned about possible fetal allergies to it. I am not allergic to this type of penicillin but how do I know that my baby is not? Could anybody tell me weather amoxicillian can effect my baby or not?? Thanks.

A fetus cannot have an allergy, nor can newborns so I think that it is quite safe to take penicillin in pregnancy. Actually, amoxicillin is sometimes used to prevent and treat anthrax infection of the skin and chlamydia infections during pregnancy. But, if you prefer so, you could talk with your doctor about the possible risks of using this medication during pregnancy.
