Having only three cups of tea a day counts as if drinking plenty of water and it actually has more benefits than drinking water alone.
Many researchers thought that tea dehydrates because it contained caffeine but the truth is quite opposite-the study finds.
It was found that tea re-hydrates but it also helps against many diseases and it boosts the immune system thanks to its ingredients. It is flavonoids that are found in tea leaves, as well as in many other plants and foods, that act as antioxidants protecting from free radicals and against heart disease and some cancers.
In the study that has been conducted, researchers state that having at least three cups of tea per day could actually lower the chances of having a heart attack. Besides the heart, tea has been found to be protective against tooth plaque and tooth decay and it strengthens the bones.
The only warning that came from the researchers is for the people who may suffer from anemia. It is believed that tea can impair the body's ability to absorb iron from food, so these people should be careful with tea consumption.
Unfortunately, with the rise of soft drinks on the market, tea is not as popular as it used to be. Those still in favor are the elderly whose tea intake makes up about 70% of the overall fluid intake. |

I agree with your statemet.Recently "Harvard Women’s Health Watch" has
investigated scientifically the medicinal properties of tea.The October issue provides a few tips to get the most out of tea-drinking:
1. Drinking a cup of tea a few times a day to absorb antioxidants and other healthful plant compounds. In green-tea drinking cultures, the usual amount is three cups per day.
2. Allow tea to steep for three to five minutes to bring out its catechins.
3. The best way to get the catechins and other flavonoids in tea is to drink it freshly brewed. Decaffeinated, bottled ready-to-drink tea preparations, and instant teas have less of these compounds.
4. Tea can impede the absorption of iron from fruits and vegetables. Adding lemon or milk or drinking tea between meals will counteract this problem. |
