Hello, I was wondering what the prognoses are for kid diagnosed with mild cystic fibrosis? I asked around and I’ve been told that outlook is not good, that they usually don’t live beyond their teens. Who are more affected boys or girls?
Hi, I am sorry to hear this, I can tell you prognosis but in the past people with cystic fibrosis were not expected to live beyond their teens. However, now days, cystic fibrosis is diagnosed earlier and treated more effectively and As a result, people live fuller lives into their 30s, 40s and beyond. Cystic fibrosis affects boys and girls equally, but five times more often than it does African Americans.
