I am taking BC Yasmin and Tegretol. Yasmin is forth pill I am trying with but I still am getting my period every two weeks since being on Tegretol. Is there any other birth control that you would recommend? Am I experiencing side effects from Tegretol?

Women with epilepsy have a higher incidence of irregular menstrual cycles and as Tegretol is considered an enzyme inducing medication,so the choice of oral contraceptive must contain a min. of 50ug of estrogen to assure efficacy. I don’t think that you are experiencing side effects breakthrough bleeding is often a sign of ineffective oral contraceptive. A consultation with a gynecologist is recommended
