Hi, I found out that I suffer from temporal arteritis when I visited a doctor because f my headaches and fever. I heard about this disorder before, but I don’t know anything about it. What caused it and how should I treat it?

Hi, temporal arteritis is an inflammatory condition that is also known as giant cell arteritis. It affects women much more often than men. Temporal arteritis causes eye problems, because it affects blood vessels, and blocks the flow to the optic nerves. Sometimes, it can even lead to permanent vision loss. Beside headache and fever, other symptoms are tenderness of scalp, transient blurred vision, loss of appetite, fatigue, drooping lid… I don’t have to tell you how it’s diagnosed, because you’ve already done that. Temporal arteritis is treated with oral steroid medication, which reduces the inflammatory process. Improvement will be noticed after several days.
