Testicle Lump/Pain in lower abdomen

Hello there. A couple of nights ago my boyfriend noticed a small BB sized lump on the bottom of his right testicle and it was tender. A few hours later the lump was gone and the pain subsided. Over the past few days he's started having an achy pain/discomfort feeling in his lower abdomen, the top of his inner thighs and lower buttocks. He has slight testicle tenderness. He's also feeling weak and has loss of energy. We've checked the for any kind of lumps, bulges and swelling and there are none. Is there anything you can tell me about what this may be and what kind of Dr he should see? Thank you.
