Hi, few days ago I felt pain on my butt cheek while I was sitting. When I looked for the source of the pain, I noticed a little lump. It is red and I can feel it under the skin. Did it happen to anyone else?

I have a lump inside my butt cheek for several weeks, and it won’t go away. I was applying some medical creams, but they didn’t work. The lump is hard, painful and red. First I thought it was just a big pimple, but a pimple would disappear long time ago. It’s a little embarrassing because it’s exactly inside my butt cheek, so I can’t see a doctor about this problem. My hygiene habits are excellent, so comments on this subject would be unnecessary. It crossed my mind that many hours of sitting in my office could be the reason for this lump. Maybe the sitting has worsened my circulation and caused a lump.

| me too...same condition. Do you have a skinny (non-existant) butt? Because, the hip/rear bones put pressure on my butt when I sit, causing this "pimple" hard like annoyance. I think that's the problem. So, I sit on cushions all the time, not directly on wooden/hard chairs. |

Um, Hi. I have had one of these lumps you speak of for a few years now, it went away about 2 years ago, but came back about 1 year ago. well, word to the wise, I wouldn't recomend trying to pop it or burst it. It is very painful and the inside of mine was a white/red tissue of some kind, about 2 in H x1 1/2 in L x 1/2 in D. if anyone knows if this "thing" is cancerous or otherwise harmful outside the pain and huge blemish pls let me know..
Thanks

It is a pylonidal cyst. I have one too, and haven't treath it for a while, because I don't have the time for the surgery. Surgery is the only thing that will get rid of it. I had mine drained about a year ago and with medications it was sort of gone, however it requires surgery for complete removal.
The main causes for this are besides of needing extra hygiene, riding horses, and long periods sitting. Also in most of the cases a single hair from the area is the source as it craves into the skin and prevents the skin from sweating.
Don't let it just there, and don't be ashamed, a huge quantity of persons get it in certain moment of their lifes. And it certainly can become cancerous if you let it be there. |
