Thick brown discharge, doesn't look like blood.

First off, I don't take the birth control pill and nor have I recently started any other pills...so that cannot be taken into consideration. But, I did have sexual intercourse May 5th, a week after my period. It is now June 1st, I should have had my period, and did not. Instead, it started slowly with small discharges of brown stringlike mucus stuff. Then, May 30th to be exact, I had diarrhea and got feverish, body aches and all. Felt decent the next day. It has been two days and I've resulted to wearing pads because the discarge is much heavier, yet sporatic. It doesn't even resemble blood, it's incredibly dark and thick. I feel disgusting and embarrassed and wonder if I should take this more serious and get up and go to the doctor...I haven't eliminated any possibilities, such as being pregnant or an STD. I have never experienced anything like this before. My research showed that it's normal to have some brown discharge before or after one's period, so I'm debating on giving it a few extra days to see it happens. I don't know, I'm seeking out information or advice. Please help.

I forgot to mention that I haven't been experiencing any PMS symptons such as cramps, moodswings, etc. I have been lacking appetite. I feel great other wise, except going to the bathroom is a real drag considering all the confusion of what is going on inside my body showing up in my underwear. Oh yeah, I'm 18 years old.

You know I have been experiencing the same thing and I have been wondering to. I was due for May 15 and that is what I got to and still have not actually got a period. Well I hope we get answer soon

OMG I M GONG THRU THE EXACT SAME THING AS YOU!! me and my boyfriend have had unprotected sex like 4 times and like twice in the last week and im getting this mucous stuff too..and its brown and when i wipe after going pee its on the toilet paper...its sooo gross but if u found out can u email me back at hottiie_britt69@hotmail.com because im onli 16 and i relle dont wanna talk to my mother about it:) lol but if u can get back at me that wud be ASWOME..thank you!!![/quote]

I've been dealing with the same issue's. I'm 17 years old and have irregular periods. Lately I've been getting a think brown discharge and it's been scaring me because I don't know if it's a health issue or if it's normal. I researched it and said it's either old blood emptying from my body or it could be related to HPV. Which is really scary. I'm not on the pill or any other pills for that matter, I've never had sex. I don't know what could be causing this. I'd really like an answer as to what is going wrong with me before I talk to my mom about it. Can anyone help?

i had my period 1 half weeks ago , had sex when i came off , now i'm having thick brown discharge its rank, i got pantiliners coz i dont want it on my knickers , but what is it .,

could it be implantation (bleeding) discharge ., am i pregnant now or what?

same thing is happening to me, and it smells man. why does no one have a clear reason/ explanation. i had like one day of regular period, after the first normal day its turned brown and sporadic. UGH

well, ok. i'm going thru the same thing. i went to my ob/gyn and i told him every detail. he did a pap smear and did all the routines that he pose to do to decide rather if it's an STD or something else. well, i told him i have no pain in my stomach or around my virgina. he then asked me if i use tampons while on my period. i told him yes,i use tampax pearl. he then start saying that it might have something to do with that. he said i might have traces of the tampax tissue in me and is causing bateria to build up inside of me which is causing the brown discharge and the bad scent. He also stated that it could be blood(old blood)that has and still is trapped inside of the body. so he prescribed me a precription to use for a whole week. so far, im only on my third day of taking the prescription. BUT, I ADVISE ANYONE WHO'S GOING THRU THIS TO PLEASE SEEK A DOCTOR !! i didnt have n active medical card, so i had to pay to see the doctor. BUT, it is worth it cuz im doing it for my health and to protect my partner. And you dont want it to escalade into a even bigger problem !!

hi i have also been experiencing the exact same thing. i had my period in february and havent had it since. i recently just started getting the dark brown tissue discharge and dont know what to do. i was diagnosed with cyst quite a while ago so i dont think its that again because i am not experiencing any pain. theres no way im pregnant because i am currently active with a female. so i would really like some help on figuring this out.

but so far i have been researching the possibilities is that the discharge can be old blood since you are late.
