Throat Problems

I am a 55 yr.old man, I'm also an off and on smoker.I will smoke for a few months then stop and so on.
Last mid October I started again,I had a minor cold that eventually went away, but my cough and mucus in my throat did'nt, I am constantly clearing my throat, so I stoped smoking again.
It begains with this horrable itch in my throat that starts it all, I begain to cough,my head starts to hirt than I begain to GAG real BAD it continues for about 5 to 7 minuets 3 to 5 times daily and a couple of times a night.My doctor tells me that it's allegies in my sinus that is causing phlem to go into my throat which in turn is causing all my problems.
He gave me this over the counter medication that I don't beleive is helping any,he also stated that if I did'nt take I would be worst off.
I'm tired of this can anyone help?

Don’t clear your throat, it will only make things worse. You can irritate it and vocal cords as well.
Do you have a feeling as if there were a lump in your throat that you cannot get rid of?

I have similar symptoms that usually appear later in the evening when I am already tired from work and events from that day. I have no problems in the morning when I wake up but in the evening I can feel this lump, and mucus that has been present for over a month (after a cold, just like you said), I start coughing and sometimes it makes me hard to breath.
I saw a GP and she told me that there was nothing on my lungs or throat and she sent me to see an ear-throat-nose doctor. I’m going to see her/him on Monday.

My father is a non smoker and used to have this mucus in his throat. I told him about this miracle juice called Noni Juice. The problem is solved in his throat he believes it was the juice. He drinks the juice everyday.
He also has more energy and feels better.
