Posted: 01/23/07 - 02:20 Post subject: Throat problem. gag reflex, white tounge |
|
|
| I'm a 22 year old male. I've always been healthy till about 4 months ago. I got and ear infection from my allergies. I got on an antibiotic (azyithromycin?) and i got really sick from it. I vommited every day for a week. When i went back to the Dr. she gave me aciphex. thats stopped the vommiting, however this tightness and gag refelx feeling in my throat continued. Also my tounge turned white (it will not come off). The gag reflex made me not want to eat which in turn made my stomache worse. Finally I got off this aciphex after a couple months. My stomache was really bad for the first week off the stuff but its better now and I finally have an appitite back. However the feeling in my throat persists. Some days it is much worse then others but it seems like it's always there. It makes me feel nausiated but I know that my stomache feels alright. Whatever is causing this seems to be in my throat. Could it be related to my tounge being white? My dr. does not think I have oral thrush (although I've never been tested for it). I have had blood tests for thyroid and kidney/liver funtion and everything checks out alright. What could be causing this???? Please any help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you |

Does the feeling in your throat cause you to gag.
When does this occur? When you wake up or threw out the entire day?
Does it feel like there is a build up of mucus around your gag reflex?
Anyways these are my problems, which are consistant with your stomach problems. I have had these problems for some time now also and looking for a solution like yourself. Other question have you smoked in the past? Drink dariey? Do these problems become worse when you get nervous?
I tend to get anxious at the fact that i know that the gagging is going to happen and whwn it does i end up gagging.I usually end up hawking somkinda mucus 'down from my gagreflex if you want to call it that.
After i get over the "attack", as i like to call them, i calm down and eat something, still feeling bad i might add. Note i never feel good threout the entire day. I had to quit school and work because of this because i would be in public and have a gagging attck and start to have panic attacks. I tend to never leave the house because prior to leaving i always have an attack. Absoulutly ruined my life to this day forward. I am only 20. I also was a moderate smoker but quit about 3 months ago. My problems have been persistant for about 1 year.
Anyways thats my story hope u elaborate on you halfmore. |

| Most of the time I don't end up gagging. I just feel like I need to. It's no fun. I am still able to go to work and school, but I do avoid certian activities because of this. I'm currently looking into my alergies. I am allergic to dust mites and I recently found some mold growing in the windows of my appartment. I have an appt with a throat doctor in 2 weeks so hopefully he can offer some insight. I am thankful that this isn't something that is affecting me 24/7, but it is there alot. Also, I do have some anxiety, but it's mostly all caused from being sick latley. I've never had a problem with it at all before this. As I have slowly started to feel better, the anxiety has decreased considerably. Hope ya feel better |

I've had this strange swelling develop in the deeper part of my throat. It feels like it's about two inches above the v-notch of my collarbones, right above my sternum, but inside the esophagus. My soft pallet is always swollen, too, and I can't even bring myself to describe the kind of crap I "hock up" once in a while.
This swelling or growth or constriction makes me gag all the time, to the point that I'm constantly yanking at my shirt collars because I feel like they're choking me. There's no real soreness that goes along with it, but it does seem to worsen when I get anxious about it. I don't know whether to attribute it to smoking (which I've quit), constant reflux, allergies, or all of them. But this is freaking me out.
Can't afford a doctor. So I'm dreading going back to work at my seasonal and very physical job, because I don't know if I'll be able to move without gagging every two seconds. If it's cancer, I wish it would just get it over with. This is horrible. |
