Throbbing Pain In Lower Right Rib

Throbbing & unbearable pain in the lower right rib is giving me sleepless nights. The pain is so bad that at times I get tears in my eyes. But the strangest part is that sometimes the pain just goes away. I can't feel anything!! & then it returns with a full bang. The pain is something like - contraction & expansion. It is not continous but for once it is at peak & the other time it melows down. Then again.. .. I have consulted a doctor who told me it could be a muscle pull & has ruled out the possibility of gall stones as it does not extend to my back. But he has changed my medicine 3 times & nothing seems to help. It has been over a month now & amazingly I was fit as a fiddle for last one week. But my pain came back to me last evening & haven't been at rest since then. Can some one plz help me. I am in desparate need of help!!
