My husband had half his thyroid removed 2 weeks ago...his voice is very low and hoarse...how long before he should get his vocals back..I can't tell that it has gotten any better at all since surgery.

I'm 19 months post op and my voice is still hoarse and I cannot sing or extend my voice. I had an EMG that show some vocal cord paresis. There is a procedure to help this but I don't want another cut made to my body after what I've been through. It's really amazing, when they look at my vocal cords with the lararyngscope they are normal, but the EMG shows otherwise.
