Hi, I am 45 years old, and I have a loss of my jaw function. It hurts a lot when I’m chewing, which is making my life difficult. It would be much easier if I had someone to talk to. TMJ sufferers, share your thought with me!

Hi, I know how you feel. I lost 10 pounds because of my chewing difficulties. I tried to have TMJ reconstructions using body tissue, but it wasn’t successful. They used bone, muscle, or cartilage instead of metal implants. I am considering another TMJ surgery, but I’m very scared this time because it already failed once. I’m afraid of possible complications, like infection, permanent facial muscle weakness, permanent numbness and foreign body reaction. I know I will never have a normal jaw function again, but I hope for any improvement. Even metal implants, specially made for patients TMJ anatomy, must sometimes be replaced.
