Posted: 01/13/07 - 06:40 Post subject: To anyone who has had gallbladder surgery - Biliary stenting |
|
|
I had my gallbladder removed and they inserted a stent into my biliary duct. I was later told that the only reason a surgeon would need to place a stent in the biliary duct during or after an endoscopic gallbladder removal surgery is if there was a mistake, an injury during surgery.
Is this so?
If you have had your gallbladder removed, did you have to have a stent placed in your biliary duct, and then have to set an appointment to come back and have it removed later?
Is this a common occurence?
Thanks in advance!

| Hi, I'm not sure on why they put a stent in for you, so I can't help there, sorry! But I had a stent put in during a ERCP, because some stones had gotten into my bile duct. The surgeon said that the stent is very small and will eventually come out on its own. I don't have to have it removed. |
