To tie my tubes, or not. Opinions please

I am 42 years old and absolutely don’t want any more children. I have a Dr’s appointment today to discuss tying my tubes. The thing that bothers me I have read negative things about the effects on periods. Anyone with any experiences out there? I need opinions about to tie my tubes or not?

I personally have not considered it but I know the possibility to get pregnant still exist and it would cause an ectopic pregnancy (inside the fallopian tube) which is incredibly dangerous. Personally, I think there are way more effective methods that are less expensive and risky. Although my cousin had tubes tied when her daughter was born in Jan. Her periods are still irregular but the flow is the same as it was before. If you ask me whether to tie or not----don’t!
