My 2 1/2 year old suffers from periodic constipation. Our last experience, she went 3 days without pooping. She was trying so hard not to poop and, of course, that makes it worse. I have found that if I make her squat when she is in the middle of crying and trying to hold it in, it helps relax her enough that she can get the initial painful part out. I am usually squatting and cyring with her but I have found that it is beneficial. She is a very picky eater and her diet really doesn't change so I have no idea why every so often she gets constipated. I just try to increase fluids (watered down juice and try apple juice) to try to help her. I hope this helps some of you out there to some extent.
