IQ level in Down syndrome patients

Hello, folks. My cousins got their first baby little late. I must admit that their baby is diagnosed with Down syndrome. I know that mental retardation is one of the characteristics of this disease. I would like to know something more about IQ level in these patients. Thank you in advance.

Hello. You are right. Mental retardation is a characteristic of Down syndrome. I am afraid I can’t help you with exact IQ figures. All I know that their IQ is low.
