I was diagnosed with PCOS today. I am 20 years old and I had been suffering for over a year with irregular periods and heavy bleeding. Just before I got diagnosed, I had been bleeding for three months straight. The doctor put me on birth control and told me to take iron because my blood level was extremely low. Is there anything else I should be doing? To me, it seems hasty to just put me on birth control when PCOS can cause many other problems. I appreciate anyone's opinions. Thank you.
