Hi there. Before you go through with your tubal, please, please research other alternatives excessively. Not only is there a recurring theme with the horrendous side effects, but most times you can't get a tubal ligation without having children in the first place. There are a handful of times, I'm sure, that women have had their tubes tied to prevent children all together or for health issues. I just don't know any nor have I seen any. The side effects include excessive bleeding or not at all, your ovaries can decide to shut down throwing you into menopause at a very early age, your hormones can go completely out of wack due to blood supply being cut off to the ovaries, and numerous others. If you type Post Tubal Ligation Syndrome into google, you can read the women's testimonies and doctor testimonies. Now, I will tell you that post tubal ligation syndrome isn't widely recognized by doctors, but it should be. Having known then what I know now, I never would have gone through with my tubal ligation in 2002. I'm facing what could be a hysterectomy by age 35 unless I can come up with the money for a tubal reversal.
Positive things about a tubal ligation? Carefree sex life without the worry, although you would run a slight risk of a tubal pregnancy. Not to mention it does not protect against STD's, including the HIV virus.
Just make sure you do your research and don't make an uninformed decision. Knowledge is power, sweetheart. Please use it. |
