Type 2 diabetes and kidney disease?

How are diabetes and kidney diseases related? I am suffering from type 2 diabetes and I would like to know how I will recognize early signs of kidney disease. From what I found out there is a great percentage of diabetic people who had kidney failure. Thank you in advance.

You have right; I believe it is between 10-40 %. Weight gain and ankle swelling may occur, more peeing at night, perhaps higher blood pressure. As a person with diabetes, you should have your blood, urine and blood pressure checked and it will lead to better control of your disease and early treatment of high blood pressure and kidney disease.
