Unable to urinate after laser gallbladder surgery

Hi,

I had my gallbladder removed yesterday. before the surgery i was able to urinate properly (actually was urinating a lot on that day ... maybe due to stress). I was given general intravenous anesthesia.
After the surgery everything was fine and they discharged me 2 hours later. I did not urinate during that time as i had not had mucht to drink. After about 4-5 hours I still could not urinate even though I had a strong urge to do so. I went back to urgent care and they inserted a catheter and informed me to come back after 2 days for testing whether I am fine at point of time or not.
I was just wondering if this is a normal occurence after surgery or is this something to be concerned about?
