My mother have some problems with she's hormone levels. Her thyroid gland is enlarged. She has problems with my eyes. They are bulged and very dry. I also feel the pressure in the eyes. I have double vision and pain in the head. I have been prescribed with corticosteroids (prednisone) for my eye problems in Grave's disease. Why is that?

It is because the Grave's disease is autoimmune disorder. Corticosteroids are use to diminish effects of immune system. In autoimmune disorders our own body attacks our glands and it makes great damage to our health. But there are significant side effects of these medicines, because they decrease ability of our immune system to fight against infections. Prednisone is often used for Grave's disease eye problem.
