When my girlfriend said she was in pain the first time we had intercourse, we thought it was normal. However, we began to realize that no matter what we tried (fingering (one finger), oral sex, toys, and intercourse) it hurt her. He gynecologist told her that she just had a sensitive vagina and had to deal with it. We thought that maybe she was right and that it would get better, but we have been trying for 6 months now and it hasn't. I can tell you that the problem is NOT lubrication. My girlfriend gets very wet and the actual insertion is very easy...but equally painful. She has tried switching among different birth control pills (as some pills would cause her to experience pain during her period) but no matter what she has been on, it has still been painful. She describes the pain as a "rawness" or "burning" around the vaginal opening and inside her vagina. If anyone knows what this might be or how to deal with it it would be greatly appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

My girlfriend and I have a similar problem but slightly different. Her pain (which she describes similarly to Frank) occurs after she orgasms. We have used several different lubes to try to help, but neither of us think lubrication is the problem anyway. After she orgasms I probably have about 20 or 30 seconds before she can't stand the pain anymore and we have to stop. I'm not a marathon man, this usually occurs just a couple or few minutes into sex. Please, we would appreciate ANY advice.

i have had similar problems around my vagina, especially when i am with a man that is well endowed (usually black men).
I've found that using creams like alo vera, or softvaj around the edges of my vaginal passage (not in it) have helped immensly. It also smells nice and fresh.
Give it a go, it may work for your girlfriends. |

This happens to me EVERY time i have sex too....its good for a little while and then it gets to a point where it just hurts to much to continue anymore. It really is a bad feeling, the burning , for me, can be so painful sometimes i can almost cry...i tried using LOTSSSS of lube as well, but nothing seems to work it just seems like after to much 'raw friction' of the skin i just have to give up. Maybe my vagina is to sensitive for that much friction??who knows. Id like to know what it is too, and how to help it, its been a problem now for some time. |

| I can tell you I had the same problem 10 years ago. It was extremely painful to the point of unbearable and it was right at the entrance of the vagina. My gynocologist sent me to a gyno. endocrinologist. He put a cotton pad with vinegar on it and found active HPV. They were not active warts but it was the virus in my system. They prescribed some cream that I had to put on it for a few weeks and it went away and never came back. They had really strong creams but it absolutley will tear your skin off. The cream I used was like a cortizone looking cream but definitely a prescription. It was not a big deal but just a big deal to determine the problem. I even had doctors trying to put me on prozac b/c they said I could be mental which could cause the pain...run if they tell you that. |

| I just wanted to let you know that I had this same problem with pain during sex and it was a rare condition called vulvodymia. It is basically when the nerves around the vaginal opening are over sensitive and make it feel like there is pain when there isn't. They don't have a cure or anything for it but I was told to not use scented products, not use pads but only tampons, wear cotton underwear and take showers rather than baths. I was also told that it would take a while before anything started to improve..maybe 6 months of doing this...as well I was also prescribed a gel that I had to place on every time after I urined and before bed...I hope this helps |

It's often a problem with a reaction to the boyfriend or his sperm.
There have been reports of an alergic reaction with various lube or with soaps, scents or lotions that men have used... or that women have used to clean up with.
The post just above has some great suggestions. |
