Posted: 11/03/05 - 11:17 Post subject: Vaginal Pain during Intercourse |
|
|
My wife of 32, has had this pain during intercourse all her life. We have been together only a few years, however she has told me that I am the first man that she has ever experienced orgasms with. However she is still experiencing pain. Any position other that missionary makes it worse. She has told doctors about this over and over again. She has always been told everything is fine. Her exams come back normal. Maybe your not aroused enough, or not lubricated enough. Neither of those are true. I have asked her where the pain is, she has a hard time explaining to me exactly where its at. She says is the inner walls and/or the vagina, but not her cliterous. Then she is sore afterwards and the next day. We have tried everything that we can. She told me she was given a steroid cream once in the past, but that didnt work either. Do you have any advise or can you help. I ask is it something with the nerve endings in the area?

Hello! First of all I need to say that your wife is lucky to have you! Not so many men are as understanding and supportive. Congratulations to you too!
I think that maybe you should look for emotional factors in your wife’s problem. There is a condition called vaginismus. It's a spasm of the vaginal muscles, caused mainly by fear of being hurt. This can be present for years and cause pain during intercourse.
If not this, then it may have something to do with the way she was brought up, or she may even had a bad experience in youth. If young girls are thought to look at sex as nasty and dirty or that sex is painful or it could be due to previous vaginal infections.
Have you tried with a very long foreplay to make her totally relax?
You know, many gynecologists didn’t expertise in intercourse pain. However, there are doctors who are and who have experiences with this subject. Many of them work privately, so you may try to reach some of them and look for help on that side. |

Some hormonal imbalances can make things painful down there, thining the tissue, not providing enough fluids (and will still be sensitive even with added lube)
Has she ever had her hormones checked? Like estrogen, LH, progesterone, ...etc
The other thought is that she may have endometriosis. Does she have heavy periods? Cramps before and during menstruation?
Does her pain start as soon as you enter or is it with deeper penetration? Would the pain be worse at different times in her cycle?
If her doctor hasn't been able to give her any help, try a new doc or GYN specializing in sexual problems. Write down every little symptom so your mind doesn't go blank in front of the Dr (as mine always does)
Good luck and I really hope she finds answers to help her. |

Hi there
I went to see my doctor again today and after an indepth discussion we came to the conclusion that I am probably allergic to my partner's semen.
Do you think this could be the cause of your wife's pain?
The only way to test it is to use condoms (low allergy like Durex Avanti made of polyurethane not latex) for a couple of weeks and see if that's any better?
Worth a try. Hope it helps.

| i too have pain during intercource but i feel this is due to the larger size penis and the friction. try getting your partner to go alot slower and be well lubricated. both have helped me alot. |

| I had the same problem a couple of years ago, my gynecologist said it was because I was on birth control pills and she prescribed me premarin hormones to inject inside my vaginal area. I am off the pills now and I havent experienced any pain. |

| Your wife may want to try an estrogen cream, if she has not already done so. My doctor gave me some when I was having pain during intercourse, and it made a huge difference. In my case, breastfeeding caused my estrogen levels to be low, which in turn caused my vaginal membranes to be thin. However, your wife may simply have low estrogen levels. Hope you find something. I know how frustrating this can be! |
