Vaginal Soreness -unsure if yeast infection or something els

I had a yeast infection, but I think i might be prone to getting it because I have had the same symptoms for the last 3 months. I am taking acidophillus tablets, all the over the counter medicine and even the doctor recommended ones. But the infection still has not gone. My question is:

1) I am now getting extreme soreness internally. However, there is not too much discharge or any itchy. Just soreness, is this part of the infection or is something else wrong?

2) Also what else can i do to get rid of this infection? I am wearing the loose fitting cotton underwear/clothes. I have cut down on sugars. I am trying to increase that good bacteria with the supplment tablets. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do?
