Hello
I am a 21 year old Female, who has been on the pill (ortho try cyclen) for the past 4 and a half years. I recently just got over a bad stomach virus where i was vomiting alot. I had a light period this month (which is very normal...it happens about every other month) that started 4 days before my getting sick. I was also not able to take my pills (the white pills in the pack) for about 4 or 5 days because i ether vomited them up or my stomach was too upset to take them. However, about 3 days after my period stopped and i was over my stomach virus, i started experiencing bleeding, similar to me having a regular-light period. I also started taking my pills again. I mainly bleed overnight and in the morning, and it gets extremely light (so light i dont have to wear a pad or tampon) during the afternoon and evening. I have also been having light cramps. Its like I am really on my period. It has been about 5 days since i started bleeding. I also have had ovarian cysts in the past. I dont think i am pregnant because I had sex with a condom the day before my period started, and had not had sex before then for a month. Could this bleeding be because of my missing the pills, the ovarian cysts, or possible pregnancy (which i doubt!!!!!) |

Hi! I would also rule out pregnancy but it is almost impossible to say whether it was the pills or ovarian cysts! What kind of problems did you have with cysts before? Did you have problems at all? My cousin also has these cysts and she is experiencing very strong cramping during ovulation and periods. The pain can get so devastating that it sometimes radiates to her thighs.
I would think it was the pills, considering you missed quite a few, and that there was a possibility that ovulation occurred.
However, if you can’t be sure what of these two it was, maybe you should have your ovaries checked. Have you done anything regarding the cysts before or you just let them stay for the time being? Have you been suggested any kind of treatment for them? I am just curios because of my cousin! Thanx |

The bleeding actually stopped alot, so i think it was my period since i missed so may pills. I have had bad cysts on my ovaries since i was 13. Every woman gets cysts, and they are supposed to rupture during ovulation or mesturation...however mine dont every once and a while and they grow and grow, until they rupture...and believe it... They do hurt alot. When they rupture, its like cramps but 5 times worse. There is pain radiating through my thighs and up my spine and in my stomach. it hurts to walk, and sit up too. I have actually had only 2 or 3 episodes with that kind of pain. Plus cysts are very genetic...my mother, her sisters and her mother have all had hysterectomies because of problems with their uterus and ovaries. So hopefully that doesnt happen to me!!!!!!!! |
