Vaginal burnig during sex! whats wrong ?

Hey !

Ok so me and my boyfriend are used to having sex everyday but hes off at college and we see each other about every other week so when we have sex it normally hurts for about a couple of seconds and then the pain is gone ... but yesterday during foreplay he went to finger me and i got this really intense burning sensation on the outerside of my vagina ... so we thought maybe it might have been something on his finger so we decided to try sex and the burning sensation was even more intense so i tried to forget about the pain and just enjoy it ... it only hurt at the entry spot ( this is the first time this has ever happened) but it burned so bad we had to stop ... we only had time to foreplay today and when he fingered me it didnt hurt at all ... is there a way i can prevent this from happening? or what happened to me in the first place ? please help me thank you !
