|
|
Ah, the hated bumps. I have bumps. When I shave, I get little red bumps--irritation, ingrown hairs, etc. NOTHING, no meds, nothing, has stopped them yet. They feel like glass needles if I rub my skin the wrong way (which is ANNOYING when masturbating or getting off with the bf). I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas?
And no, I don't have an STD. I am monogamous with my boy, and neither of us has had any sexual interaction before, and all we've done is hand stuff. No, we haven't gone ass-to-vag, haven't had him eat me out, haven't gotten dirt stuck anywhere, etc. So suggestions along this vein can be avoided (so you don't waste your time, not because I'm a bitch, I promise. Which isn't to say that I'm not, but...I'm trying. ^_^), and suggestions along a new vein would be appreciated. |

The bumps and ingrown hairs are quite commen after shaving. There are a few options you can use to avoid this. I would suggest switching from shaving, to either of these:
- Use a depilatory cream/lotion such as Veet. Most work well, but one problem with them is that they work by basically dissolving the hair, and it really doesn't get below the surface of the skin much. That means the hairs will still grow back in about the same time as it does when you shave. But, using something like this will help to avoid the bumps and ingrown hairs.
- Waxing. This is a great way to remove the hair. I have used wax for some time now. No bumps from using wax, but I do have an occasional ingrown hair or two but not too often. The down side is that waxing can be a bit painful. But the good thing is that it only lasts for a few seconds, then it goes away. If you choose to wax, I suggest having it professionally done at a reputable spa by an esthetician who is experienced in Brazilian Waxing. Don't go to a salon located on your nearest street corner. Find a reputable spa in your area by either asking around, or looking some up in your yellow pages, then calling them and asking questions like do they do brazilians, how much experience does the esthetician have in doing waxes of this kind, how much does it cost (of course!), and maybe what their sanitation practices are. I have been doing bikini/brazilian waxes on myself for some time now, but not before having them done professionally and learning how they are properly done. And believe me, it still hurts a lot! But I find that I can help to lessen any pain I may experience just because I am doing it on myself, rather than someone else doing it. Its kind of like having someone else remove a band-aid from your body - it just seems to hurt less if you do it yourself!
One last thing - if you choose waxing, then make sure you buy a good quality 'hard' wax (Gigi makes a good Brazilian Hard Wax). Don't try to use a wax that uses strips for removal and is generally used for legs/underarms/arms/eyebrows - but not for Brazilians! One hint is to make sure your hairs are trimmed to about a quarter inch long first. Then lightly apply baby oil to the area to be waxed. I stress the word lightly apply because too much, and the wax will not adhere to the hairs properly. The baby oil forms a barrier between the skin and the wax, and helps prevent any sticking to your skin which can result in pulling off a couple layers of skin when you remove the wax. I have had that happen a few times before I used baby oil and, um , ouch is all I can say!
Hope I helped to answer your question!
Good luck. |

I'm a guy, but shaving is about the same between the two sexes I would imagine.
When i shave I 1) ALWAYS take a nice hot bath, and soak for a while to soften the hairs and help bring them up so when I shave them, they arent hard to shave. 2) Always use a fresh razor, at least 3 blades. I like my Fusion; five blades of pube slashing fury! 3) use shaving cream SPECIFICALLY for sensitive skin.
Afterwards I use lotion down there, and its all good to go. |
