Since my period started (last Friday), my vagina has become very sore, especially around the clitoris. It feels that my pubic hair may have scratched it while I was walking during my period.

But now, as my period has passed, I tried to shave the area that felt like it was digging into my clitoris, and now it's so bad that it's itchy all the time and hard for me to sleep.

I don't believe I have an STD, only because I have one partner, and I have been with only him for the past 2 years. He was my first and going to be my last. And he isn't the type to go out and sleep with someone else.

My clitoris also seems to be redder than usual.

Please help, I can't stand this pain while at work (it hurts a lot when I walk around and that's all I do there.) And more of all, I want to scratch it so bad, but I know I can damage it.

Go see your dr - you could have an infection of some sort.

Kekori,
I've experienced this many times before and that's what lead me to find your posting. I don't believe it's an STD either (I'm married and have been tested etc). Your description of the feeling is exactly what I have gone through every couple of months for the last year or two. My main advice would be to avoid scratching as much as possible....this will just make it worse.

I suspect that it is mostly caused by dryness brought on by monthly changes, friction or possibly washing detergents. It may sound unusual but if you use a bit of lubricant to moisturise yourself it will go a long way to relieving the discomfort and will help you to sleep at night and get through the day.

I find that wearing cotton underwear and looser fitting trousers are the best way to ensure comfort during the day......skirts are also excellent at relieving pressure/friction on the area when feeling irritated. If I find out any other information in my searches I'll be sure to pass it along.

Hope this helps,

J
