Hello,
Anyone out there read the report/study that came out of the Netherlands on the so-called problems related to children on a macrobiotic diet and vitamin B-12 deficiency? I think the study has been mis-interpreted by western medicine but maybe not. How can I make sure I am getting enough B-12 in my diet? Anyone recommend B-12 shots ?

Taking a whole food supplement every day is really good, like Nature's Way's Alive! supplement.

Foods high in vitamin B-12 are brewer's yeast, cauliflower, cheese, eggs, herring, leafy greens, liver, mackerel, milk, mushrooms, spirulina and yogurt.

If you feel it necessary, you could get a shot, yes. But I don't think the doctor will give it to you unless they think you need it.

If after all this you still have a deficiency, you may have parasites. I'd get checked.

I’ve heard of B12 patch. A friend of mine is using it and got good result. I think he told me the site is b12patch.com but I am not very sure. Just try it on internet.
Good luck.

Hello there!
Please DO NOT buy b12 patch from b12patch.com. It is useless!! I have been b12 deficient for 4 years now, and have been getting shots, and felt much better. However, when I discovered that there is more “convenient” way of getting b12 through the patch, I decided to give it a try. I bought couple of boxes back in December 2006 and told my doctor that I will try them. She agreed. However, she said I must be back in a month and she will check my b12 level. I waited two months, probably having a “placebo” effect from the patch. I started feeling really sluggish and numb, and went to take a blood test. My b12 plunged to really low levels, showing that there is no effect from the patch. I just want everybody to know that it does not work and prevent other people from spending money on it. Please DO NOT BUY IT!! There were no comprehensive studies done to prove the effectiveness of the patch.

The vitamin B12 patch works. I have been using the patch for about 7 months. I got b12 shots in the past and they were good but not very fun. I tried pills but pills had no effect at all. The b12 patch gets results not as good as the shots - but good enough that I don't need the shots anymore. I am not a vegan - but I don't eat meat and I'm an athlete so I need the B12 or I begin to feel really tired. I say try the b12 patch to anyone who is getting b12 shots - it's much better. The best is if you try it and test your levels regularly with your doctor.

I have been using the b12 patch for sometime now and it definitely does indeek work for me. Perhaps there was something wrong with your test results.

Placebo affect is a very powerful thing. Isn't amazing what our body can do when we trick our brains into thinking that we are being helped. Smile
