I recently went off of a bunch of antipsychotics, and this caused me to have stomach/acid reflux, which I had never had beforehand (I also was dizzy, had other digestive problems, and got hot and cold flashes). I had it for four weeks, on the fifth week I went to the doctor at an urgent care and got some stomach meds...the last two weeks, the fifth and sixth week, I have noticed a drastic change in my needs for water...realized mostly tonight...the other day, within four hours I had downed fourteen full mugs of water, and I was still thirsty...No matter how much I drink, I am still thirsty, I'll have a full stomach, and that's the only reason I stop...and when I take the stomach meds, I have to eat within about fifteen minutes of taking it, because otherwise I get stomach/acid reflux, I take it twice a day, and it is supposed to last for twelve hours...and the last few days, I almost always get diarrhea, which is not fun at all...and if I am too active after drinking water or eating, I throw up in my mouth...but luckily since I'm drinking so much water all the time, it doesn't burn nor does it really taste that strong...maybe it is so diluted it can't break down the food properly?

But I just went for about four hours without drinking, and I started to get a stomach ache after the first two, and it just kept getting worse...so then I went to drink some water and take my antidepressant, and as soon as the water got into my stomach, it started to feel better, so I drank about half a large glass...and my stomach is starting to hurt again and it's only been about twenty minutes...What can I do about this? Does anyone know what exactly this is? My mother thinks it may be diabetes, as that is in both sides of the family, and I am supposed to get another blood test, because my blood sugar was somewhat high last time, but my father refuses to take me because he doesn't want to pay, and my mother doesn't have enough money for it (she pays for my Counseling and meds)...What should I do? I feel much better than I did before I started taking the stomach med, (it's a small orange pill, where you aren't supposed to have tomatoes, chocolate/caffeine, dairy products, products high in fats/oils)

I don't know what to do...But I am starting to get tired of the stomach issues, although it has been nice to lose weight, I guess I should explain, I'm seventeen, 5'8 and between 135 and 145 pounds, not sure exactly where I am because I don't have one of the measuring things...but I gained a lot of weight because of my antipsychotics, I was origionally around 97-103 pounds, and 5'7...but I grew an inch and gained at least 52 pounds...it was bad...

I am also feeling rather sick at the moment, maybe that has something to do with it? I have a weird feeling in my throat, like it's dry and irritated, and I keep having to swallow to keep from coughing...

Any ideas on what could be causing these symptoms? Are they at all related?

The chronic thirst and dry throat definitely sound like diabetes. I'd definitely get checked out for it.

As for the stomach issues, that may be the diabetes too. However, since it just started after you went of the meds, it could be because antipsychotic meds and antidepressants release serotonin-monitoring amino acids in the digestive tract that, when suddenly taken away, have given you massive issues. Talk to a doctor or other health care professional about a L-tryptophan deficiency, which can cause gastrointestinal issues and psychotic disorders.
