Hi, I am 35 years old and I have a 12 year old daughter. I like to think that I am a good, modern mom but it looks like that I will need some professional help. What are the symptoms of depressive disorders in children? It looks to me that she has been moody in last couple of months, she almost stopped talking to me and I hear her cry a lot. What can I do?

Well, those could very well be the symptoms of a depression, but we should not set the diagnose immediately. She is on the front step of her teenage period and I guess you know what that means. Try approaching to her carefully and ask if there is any way you can help her with whatever is bothering her. And of course, if this behavior continues, you would do good to ask for a doctor’s help.
