My mother suffers from myeloid leukemia. The illness developed gradually with the weight loss, high temperature (always in the evening). She has this condition for 2 years, she was in remission for a while but now it is here again. What is the prognosis for someone diagnosed with myeloid leukemia? Wil she be all right?
In 25% of the case, there is chromosome abnormality, Philadelphia Chromosome. Without the treatment, prognosis says there is no more than 5 years left. Life can be prolonged for a long period, if the patient is constantly under the therapy. This means there is still big chance for your mother to lead more or less, normal life.
