What are the symptoms of asbetosis?

I have been surprised when I heard that my father has asbestosis. That would mean that he spent a lot of time near asbestos which also mean that happened at work and that angers me a lot. But for now, his health is the only thing important and we will do our best to help him. I would just like to know about the symptoms of this condition, what are they, how is asbestosis diagnosed?

The problem with this disease is that it develops slowly in time, sometimes over decades. We could say that shortness of breath and chest pain might be the first symptoms of this illness. CT scan might be very helpful in determining if a person has this illness or not. There are also pulmonary function test and biopsy of course.
