What causes ishemic heart disease?

Hello! My boyfriend has ishemic heart disease. I am very concerned for his condition. Sometimes he has really bad chest pain. I want to understand his illness and that is why I am contacting you (I have heard you may know this). Can you tell me What causes ishemic heart disease? Thank you!

Hello! Ischemic heart disease is same name for following conditions: Angina pectoris and myocardial infarction. I assume that your boyfriend has Angina pectoris (correct me if I am not right). Angina pectoris is caused due the fact that heart does not get enough blood: and this is happening because one (or more) heart's arteries are blocked (or narrowed). Also, Angina pectoris usually occurs at people with following problems: uncontrolled high blood pressure or valvular heart disease.
