What do you know about prognosis of chronic myelogenous leukemia?

Chronic myelogenous leukemia was found in my aunt during a blood test. She has been treated with cytostatics and some other medications I have never heard of. I know that this is a dangerous illness, so I have a simple question. What do you know about the prognosis of the chronic myelogenous leukemia?

Well, there were old studies that did not give much hope. Patient who lived the most died after 117 months, but this was all before the new therapies and treatments were applied. Now, the statistics say that after first 5 years, the percentage of survival is about 89% percent, which is an excellent number. I am sure your aunt will live a long life…
